What is Christianity?
Lesson 1 — Who is God?
We believe in one God, who is eternal, the creator of the whole universe, everything that is seen and not seen. There is no one like Him and He has no partners. He is full of power, grace, holiness, and love.
Lesson 2 — Who is a human?
God created humans, both men and women, in His own image, full of dignity and worthy of respect. Even though, God created humans without sin, He give them a will to either obey Him or not. Unfortunately, humans disobeyed God. So, humanity and each one of us became sinful.
Lesson 3 — What is sin?
Sin is not just doing wrong things. Sin is anything that is against the will and character of God. The only way we can live a holy life is by the power of the Holy Spirit, who enables us to overcome sin.
Lesson 4 — Do Christians Believe in Prophets and Angels?
We believe in prophets, through whom God spoke to us. God sent prophets for over 2000 years to communicate His will and His promises, particularly the promise of a Saviour.
Lesson 5 — What Holy Books Do Christians Believe?
Our Holy Book is composed of two parts: the New Testament and the Old Testament. The Old Testament has 39 books and the new Testament has 27 books. We do not believe the Word of God has been abrogated or changed.
Lesson 6 — The Birth and Life of Jesus
Jesus was born of the virgin Mary, according to prophecy. He lived a holy and blameless life. He performed miracles and taught about the kingdom of God. He was crucified and killed, but he defeated death and resurrected again.
Lesson 7 — Who is Jesus?
Jesus was truly human, living a holy life devoted to God. He was also truly divine, being the Word and the Son of God. Jesus came to the world to save sinners.
Lesson 8 — What is the work of Christ in the World?
Jesus came to the world to display who God is to us and to reconcile us to God. He did this work of reconciliation through His death on the cross and His powerful resurrection from the dead.
Lesson 9 — Forgiveness from Sin
We all know we are sinful. So the question is: how can we be forgiven? It is not by our works, but by repenting of our sins and turning to God and accepting His gift of salvation through Jesus, we can receive the forgiveness of sin.
Lesson 10 — Holy Spirit
Jesus promised that the Holy Spirit will come after His ascension and indwell in those who believe in Him, giving them a new birth and the ability to live the Christian life. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God and is God.
Lesson 11 — The Trinity
We believe in one God, who is one in essence, but three in persons: the Father, the Son (Jesus), and the Holy Spirit. We never reject, but worship God in His Oneness. It is misunderstanding for some of our Muslim friends, who believe that we worship three Gods including Mary. No Christian has ever worshiped Mary.
Lesson 12 — The Church
The Church is not a building. It is a the gathering of the believers, who gather together to worship God, hear from His Word, and rejoice in the fellowship of other believers.
Lesson 13 — The Christian Sacraments
The worship of Christians is different from the worship of followers of other religions in several ways. We worship God not to learn salvation, but to express our love and gratitude to God, and for the free salvation He has given us.
Lesson 14 — Ethical Teachings
Christian ethical teachings can be found throughout the Old and New Testament, but the core of Christian teaching is to love God and to love our neighbours as ourselves.
